Pokémon Black and White 2 Hits the West in October

7th for North America, 12th for Europe

DS owners will be able to return to Unova in October when Pokémon Black and White 2 launches in the West.

The sequel lands in North America on 7th October and follows in Europe just five days later on 12th October.

As well as new Formes of legendary Pokémon, there are several new features in this sequel. At Pokéstar Studios you can create your own movies using battle sequences and dialogue, which the in-game audience will rate according to quality.

3DS players will also be able to buy eShop accompaniment Pokémon Dream Radar on the same day; 7th October in North America, 12th October in Europe. Pokédex 3D Pro is also set for release in autumn, but there's no specific date for that one yet.

Will you be picking up this DS adventure and its eShop side order?

POKÉMON BLACK VERSION 2, POKÉMON WHITE VERSION 2 AND POKÉMON DREAM RADAR LAUNCHING OCTOBER 12th 2012

A Massive Pokémon Adventure Continues on Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS

28th June, 2012 – Dive into the world of Pokémon like never before when two new Nintendo DS Pokémon games and a downloadable Nintendo 3DS title arrive this October. The successors to the acclaimed Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version games, Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2, are set to launch for the Nintendo DS family of systems (playable on Nintendo 3DS in 2D mode) on Friday 12th October 2012. Pokémon Dream Radar will also be available for purchase in the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS on the same day. This downloadable Nintendo 3DS title allows Nintendo 3DS owners to catch their favourite Pokémon, including some very rare ones, via the Nintendo 3DS cameras, using motion control and augmented-reality technology and transfer them into Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2.

Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 bring players back to the Unova Region two years after the events of Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version. There are many new areas to discover, and changes to familiar places for you to explore. One new area is Virbank City, home to Pokéstar Studios. Players will be able to visit Pokéstar Studios and star in their own movie with their favourite Pokémon. The movie a player creates premieres at the in-game theatre, where the audience gives it a rating. Movies are rated based on script choices and battle move sequences, and players can even create sequels to existing movies. There are many movie genres to choose from, including romantic comedy and horror.

Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 will also give fans of the original games a chance to catch up with some familiar friends. In this game, Cheren and Bianca return two years after the events of Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version, and a lot has changed. Bianca is now the assistant to Professor Juniper, helping her with Pokémon research and Cheren is now a Gym Leader and a teacher at a school in Aspertia City – the starting location for this adventure.

In Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2, players will also be able to catch some of the Pokémon from outside the Unova region ? such as Eevee, Riolu, Tyranitar, Arcanine and Mareep? right from the start of the game. If they are playing on Nintendo 3DS, players can also transfer Pokémon they have caught with the Pokémon Dream Radar into their Pokémon Black Version 2 and Pokémon White Version 2 games (visible in 2D only). Pokémon Dream Radar lets players use several different features of the Nintendo 3DS system, including the Nintendo 3DS camera, motion control and augmented-reality technology, to discover and catch Pokémon. The game includes hard-to-find Pokémon such as the new Therian Formes of Legendary Pokémon Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus.

Also launching this Autumn for purchase from the Nintendo eShop, players can learn all about their favourite Pokémon with Pokédex 3D Pro for Nintendo 3DS. This enhanced and upgraded version of the original Pokédex 3D includes detailed information about every known Pokémon featured in the history of the Pokémon video game series.

3DS XL Will Get Its Own Circle Pad Pro

All in good time

Annoyed the 3DS XL won't support the standard Circle Pad Pro? Don't worry, the machine will get its own peripheral later this year.

Satoru Iwata told shareholders that Nintendo will release an attachment for the larger machine later on in the year, but didn't share any more details like price, size or how hard it'd be hit with the ugly stick.

You won't need to replace all your 3DS accessories if you upgrade, though; the plastic stand from Kid Icarus: Uprising will work just fine and presumably not crumble under the weight.

Go! Go! Kokopolo 3D Is A Space Recipe For Disaster

We told you earlier that CIRCLE Entertainment is publishing Tanukii Studios' upcoming eShop game Go! Go! Kokopolo 3D, and now we've got the first details straight from developer Tanukii Studios.

Officially titled Go! Go! Kokopolo 3D - Space Recipe for Disaster (an even better subtitle than its predecessor's "Harmonious Forest Revenge") it's a brand new game and not a 3D port of DSiWare outing Go! Go! Kokopolo. There'll be 80 new stages and 10 new boss fights, but the gameplay will stay true to the original's intriguing blend of cats and mazes.

As the story goes, Kokopolo, Tatsumo and Jinbe each chance upon a piece of a magical stone tablet from outer space and set out to uncover the final piece, said to grant the secrets of immortality to its owner.

The multiple playable characters each have their own route through the game, with new stages including deserts, castles, factories and scrap yards, before the story concludes in the depths of the cosmos.

Go! Go! Kokopolo 3D - Space Recipe for Disaster has only just started development but as soon as there are screenshots and new details to share, we'll have them for you.

CIRCLE Bringing Go! Go! Kokopolo 3D to eShop

Cat scratch fever

CIRCLE Entertainment's prolific output continues with no fewer than 21 titles on the way to the 3DS eShop and DSi Shop in the coming months.

One of the most interesting titles is Go! Go! Kokopolo 3D: Space Recipe for Disaster by Tanukii Studios, a follow-up to DSiWare stand-out Go! Go! Kokopolo. We've approached Tanukii for more details.

The rest of the line-up is a mixed bag, with Flipper developer Hugo Smits' next game, Ace Mathician, coming soon. Some of the other titles don't give much away — what kind of action game is called Goony? — but as they're out in the coming months we won't have to wait long to find out.

Here's the list in full:

Pokémon Conquest Reaches Europe on 27th July

To arms!

Monster mash Pokémon Conquest is already available in Japan, North America and Australia, but European fans can get in on the tactical action in a month when the game hits on 27th July.

The combination of Pokémon and Nobunaga's Ambition favours a more strategic flavour of battle, teaming up monsters with Japanese warlords to unite the world of Ransei.

Conquest is just one of the Pokémon games scheduled to hit Europe this year. In Autumn, the eShop will receive Pokémon Dream Radar and Pokédex 3D Pro, two downloads to complement Pokémon Black and White 2. Europe will also get Pokémon Typing in September.

We'll have a Pokémon Conquest review coming up later today to help you decide if this one should be on your radar.

POKÉMON CONQUEST FOR NINTENDO DS SET TO LAUNCH ON 27 JULY – NEW FEATURES REVEALED

Experience the Acclaimed Pokémon Series in an Entirely New Way in this Hand-Held Adventure

27th June 2012 - A creative new entry in the Pokémon family of video games delivers a new way for fans to enjoy this legendary series on the Nintendo DS family of systems. Pokémon Conquest, set to launch across UK on 27th July 2012, offers a fun new way to play Pokémon in a unique world called Ransei that is filled with adventure. Developed by TECMO KOEI GAMES Co., Ltd., the 2D game can also be played on the Nintendo 3DS system.

In Pokémon Conquest, players take on the role of a young Warlord who is linked with a Pokémon. Together, they must set out to recruit Warrior allies to strengthen their growing kingdom. Along their journey, players will encounter a variety of Pokémon, as well as Warriors and Warlords inspired by the Japanese feudal era. The game contains nearly 200 Pokémon, including many from the recent Pokémon Black Version and Pokémon White Version games.

As the battlefield unfolds in Pokémon Conquest, players must choose the correct Pokémon type to inflict maximum damage on their opponents. In the turn-based skirmishes, players choose different tactics for intense six-on-six battles, and battle conditions can change on every turn, keeping players on their toes in anticipation of what will happen next.

New features in the game for players to conquer include:

Story: To save the Ransei region from Nobunaga, a powerful Warlord who is trying to take over Ransei, players must conquer different kingdoms to strengthen and grow their own kingdom. There are 17 kingdoms in total to conquer. Conquering all 17 kingdoms and ultimately uniting the kingdom will awaken the Legendary Pokémon and save the land from destruction. Story mode is organized by episodes. Players unlock episodes as they progress and each episode features a different playable Warlord and victory conditions.

Army Mechanics: Players can grow their army by recruiting defeated Warlords and their Pokémon. After a kingdom is conquered, players will also have access to the kingdom facilities such as training grounds, shops to buy items and mines for money. Players can also strengthen their army by linking with Pokémon. Warlords can have various linked Pokémon and switch between them before battle to strategically prepare for the type of battle they are about to engage in.

Battle Mechanics: Players will encounter a wide range of battlefields as they progress through the game. Each of the 17 kingdoms has a different type-themed battlefield. For example kingdom Ignis is fire-themed and has lava flows, lava beds and fire spouts for players to battle around. Strategically using water-type Pokémon to navigate through this battlefield will help players conquer this kingdom. Additionally, players can use the kingdom training grounds to train their army or find wild Pokémon and link with them. After battling with a Warlord, the game automatically registers them. Using the built-in local wireless connection on the Nintendo DS, players can battle with friends who also own the game with their registered armies.

Warlords and Pokémon: Each Warlord has a special ability that can change the tide of battle. For example, Warlord Oichi has the ability to heal all the Pokémon in your army. Warlords also have types much like Pokémon. This will determine how well they link to particular Pokémon. Some Warlords will have the ability to choose from several different kinds of Pokémon to link with.

Expect to See Much More Voice Recognition in Core Games

While we've pretty much all realised Kinect will not be able to give us a great hardcore experience, it can still play a part in core titles through voice recognition. Kinect engineer at Rare, David Quinn, told Gamasutra we can expect a lot more speech recognition in future core games.

Talking about his experience on Kinect Sports and Kinect Sports Season 2When asked which challenges Kinect still had to overcome, Quinn said:

What I'd like to see and what we're investigating now is a more natural conversation way of talking to the Kinect, so you can say, "Hey, caddy, give me a five iron," or "Hey, caddy, what should I use now?"

We're looking at that now, improving the speech system, so I think that would probably be the one that I'm personally the most interested in, mainly because I did so much work with speech in Sports 2.

Quinn was also very impressed by the voice recognition in Mass Effect 3, and things it points to the future for Kinect:

I think from here on in you'll see a lot of speech in core games.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist is just one upcoming core game that supports Kinect voice commands.

Escape the Swarm on DSiWare This Week

Viral survival

Teyon's maintaining its formidable DSiWare output ratio with Escape the Virus: Swarm Survival out in North America this week.

The 200 Point download asks you to form the longest DNA chain you can while dodging harmful viruses in Normal mode, or offers a Baby mode where you simply cart the DNA pieces to safety. WiiWare veterans may note the similarities to Viral Survival.

It's out this Thursday in North America for 200 Points, and follows in Europe on 5th July.

Iwata: Wii U Won’t Repeat 3DS Price Mistake

Breaking: Pope commits to Catholicism

Nintendo president Satoru Iwata assured everyone looking forward to the Wii U launch that it won't be a repeat of the 3DS's high-priced launch debacle.

As we all remember, 3DS sales stalled at its original price point, with the system's fortunes only improving after a significant price drop in August 2011. Iwata told newspaper Yomiuri Shimbun:

We won't make the same mistake that we did with the 3DS, which was considered relatively high by consumers.

Of course this is no surprise — Iwata's hardly likely to say the opposite — and back in December 2011, Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Aime said Nintendo doesn't want a 3DS price situation on Wii U. Until Nintendo announces the Wii U launch price in a few months' time we'll just have to sit tight.

Iwata also moved to assure investors Nintendo would return to profitability by the end of the financial year.
