Nintendo of America Hires Scott Moffitt as New Executive VP

Everyone, welcome the new guy

After Cammie Dunaway's departure from Nintendo in late 2010, Reggie Fils-Aime stood in as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, but now he can step aside as Nintendo of America has announced Cammie's successor: Scott Moffitt.

Moffitt comes from a successful sales background, having worked on Dial soap, Right Guard deodorant, Mountain Dew Code Red and AMP Energy Drink, which might just make him the most qualified person in the world to sell to gamers.

Expect to see Moffitt have his very own "Balance Board moment" at E3 in four weeks' time.

NINTENDO OF AMERICA HIRES NEW EXECUTIVE VP OF SALES & MARKETING

Scott Moffitt to Drive Continued Growth for Nintendo Hardware and Software Brands

REDMOND, Wash., May 9, 2011 - Nintendo of America is pleased to announce the hiring of a new executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. Effective May 9, Scott Moffitt will assume responsibility for sales and marketing activities for Nintendo throughout North America. Moffitt will work from Nintendo's office in Redwood City, Calif., and report to Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime.

Moffitt comes to Nintendo from Henkel Consumer Goods, where he oversaw North American operations for leading personal-care brands such as Dial, Right Guard, Tone and Pure & Natural. During his five years as senior vice president and general manager for the Personal Care division, he orchestrated an overhaul of the flagship Dial and Right Guard brands.

"Scott Moffitt makes a marvelous addition to the Nintendo team," Fils-Aime said. "His expertise in driving growth will be a terrific asset as we build momentum for the Nintendo 3DS system and continue to reach new audiences for the Wii console."

"Nintendo is a brand unlike any other," Moffitt said. "I look forward to helping shape the company's future for all kinds of players."

Moffitt's 20-plus years of leadership and marketing experience also include a formidable stint at PepsiCo, where he helped grow and revitalize the SoBe portfolio of brands and spearheaded the launch of Mountain Dew Code Red and AMP Energy Drink. As a marketing director and manager, he also oversaw product development and repositioning efforts for an array of top beverage brands, including Mountain Dew, Sierra Mist, Aquafina and Mug Old Fashioned Root Beer.

Moffitt holds a bachelor's degree in finance from Arizona State University and an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.

Nintendo Download: 9th May 2011 (North America)

Mighty Milky Way and MDK 2 mark a good week

Certainly one of the stronger Nintendo Downloads in recent memory, today sees a new DSiWare game from Shantae: Risky's Revenge creators WayForward on the same day a well-respected classic hits WiiWare.

WiiWare

MDK 2 (Interplay, 1000pts) — Here are some words you don't often see in the Nintendo Download: this BioWare game was originally released on Dreamcast, and is now making its home on WiiWare. The adventures of gun-toting dog Max, mad Dr. Hawkings and sniper Kurt Hectic have attracted much critical acclaim, so hopefully the WiiWare translation will be just as good. Our review will let you know.

DSiWare

Mighty Milky Way (WayForward Technologies, 800pts) — A spiritual successor of sorts to Mighty Flip Champs, to find out more before our review you can read our Mighty Milky Way interview with WayForward.
