XMB left behind
Sony introduced its XrossMediaBar menu system to the world way back in 2004 with the original PSP, and then tweaked it ever-so-slightly for the PlayStation 3. It's ready to move on from the now-familiar linear design however with a totally different menu system for the upcoming NGP.
