Features: Five Move Games to Excite You in 2011

Something for everyone

There are already around 50 games that support PlayStation Move, but if you haven't yet found something to tickle your fancy there's almost certainly something for you in the line-up of titles heading to the controller in 2011. Here we pick our most-anticipated titles of the coming 12 months.

LittleBigPlanet 2

The downloadable Sackboy's Prehistoric Moves was tasty enough to whet our appetites for more motion-controlled Sackboy action, and the beta and free demo now available on PlayStation Network had us drooling even more. With far more robust tools allowing you to Play, Create and Share better than ever before, this is one title sure to do well when it reaches North America on January 18th and Europe on January 21st.

Killzone 3

Guerilla Games' futuristic shooter is set to be one of the best showcases of Move's abilities, with a new Sharp Shooter attachment designed to get the most out of the controller. DualShock 3 users and Move owners will be able to face off online in more of the game's chaotic multiplayer, with a full campaign playable with the motion controller too. Sony is pushing this as its biggest announced hardcore Move title in 2011, and based on everything we've seen it's absolutely justified. Killzone 3 reaches North America on February 22nd, with a European release to be confirmed.

Sorcery

Curiously invisible since its E3 appearance, we haven't seen or heard anything of Sorcery other than appearances on "Move Games for 2011" lists just like this one. Move finally reaches its potential as a wand, with multiple magical spells at your disposal activated by different motions with the controller, and its mixture of dungeon-based adventure and involving motion controls set this one up as one to watch in the coming 12 months.

PlayStation Move Heroes

Six characters who need no introduction to long-standing PlayStation fans – Sly, Bentley, Ratchet, Clank, Jak and Daxter – this is a Move-exclusive title that looks set to use the controller in new and innovative ways. Sony is billing the game as part of its "Move second wave", and with the heritage of its characters to draw from it could end up drawing plenty of new players to the company's motion gizmo.

Dead Space Extraction

Bundled with the Dead Space 2: Collector's Edition, Dead Space Extraction tells the story of a handful of space colonists desperately struggling to escape from an horrific infection in the furthest regions of space. The game introduces a new heroine to the fiction and, as the crew falls victim to a mysterious contagion aboard the ship, it becomes clear that protecting her may be their only hope for survival. The original Dead Space Extraction on Wii was critically well-received, and with the added benefit of the PS3's power and Move controller this HD re-release should ensure the game finds the audience it deserves.

Nintendo Download: 3rd January 2011 (North America)

Kick off with the first download of the year

The first Nintendo Download of the year isn't a classic, but it brings some notable titles to DSiWare and a new WiiWare demo as well. Let's get this show on the road.

WiiWare

Sneezies (Chillingo, 500pts) - A cutesy puzzler that began life on the iPhone, Sneezies is a decent enough title but doesn't do much to stand out in the crowded field on WiiWare. Our Sneezies review coughs up a 6/10.

Talking Point: Zelda: Skyward Sword is 2011’s Biggest Game

Link to the future

Earlier today we brought you a list of five Nintendo games to thrill you in 2011, but one big name was absent: Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, as it wasn't really fair to put arguably this year's biggest title against anything else.

Features: Five Nintendo Games to Thrill You in 2011

Gaze into our crystal ball

Were you happy with how 2010 panned out? We're guessing many of you had at least one eye on the future, as 2011 promises to be another twelve months full of exciting revelations, unexpected announcements and surprise appearances. When it comes to the titles we already know about, we've picked five that should definitely be on your radar.

BIT.TRIP FLUX

The final part in a series that needs no introduction to many of you, BIT.TRIP FLUX is set to turn the much-loved adventures of Commander Video on its head. With elements of previous entries in the series all getting a neat spin, this is probably the most anticipated WiiWare game of 2011, and we'll have a full preview for you very soon.

Conduit 2

High Voltage's first The Conduit may have disappointed some – an almost inevitable side effect of the amount of hype it received – but the studio is determined to make amends with follow-up Conduit 2. Promising patches to address the kinds of issues that plagued the first release, support for the PDP Headbanger headset and downloadable content post-release, we'll find out if High Voltage and Sega have delivered on their potential in February.

The entire 3DS library

There was no way we could pick just one game for Nintendo's shiny new 3D-with-no-glasses handheld, so we've just lumped in the whole line-up. From Asphalt 3D to Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D, it's set to be a varied year for the machine, with titles from every major publisher lined-up.

Features: Five Kinect Games to Move You in 2011

Here at Kinectaku we've got every Kinect game reviewed, but if the sensor's back catalogue does nothing for you then there's still plenty of exciting titles on the way in 2011 that could change your mind. Here's our pick of five games to keep your eye on in the next twelve months.

Child of Eden

A spiritual successor to legendary classic Rez, Child of Eden is visually and aurally mindblowing, but also one of the first hardcore games on the way to Kinect. Using your hands to mark targets and let fly with attacks, it's a shooter without any physical controller (though it supports the Xbox 360 controller too) and with Tetsuya Mizuguchi's heritage behind it deserves to be at the top of this list. Rumours point to Child of Eden making its way to retail in February.

Kinect Star Wars

We've only seen a tantalisingly short, pre-rendered demo of the upcoming Star Wars title but with a Christmas release pencilled in it's sure to be one of Kinect's biggest games of the year. If the developers can get the controls right, using the Force without anything to hold in your hands could be a stand-out moment in gaming, but at the very least we'll all get a chance to be the Star Wars Kid again.

Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor

Capcom's mech-sim to end all mech-sims, Steel Battalion is making the jump from a massive custom controller to the hands-free world of Kinect. Developed by mech masters From Software, you'll be able to control your enormous war machine using just your voice and body, and who wouldn't want that?

Project Draco

A game that looks like Panzer Dragoon from the original creator of Panzer Dragoon? We need surely say no more, but Project Draco's beautiful art style, online multiplayer dragon battles and the ability to teach your beast new skills through close communication should win over any fence-sitters.

Forza Motorsport 4

A driving game with no controller required? After the Kinect Joy Ride auto-steering debacle you're right to be nervous, but with Turn 10 behind the wheel (sorry) there should be no such slip-ups. With an arcade-style overtaking challenge, the ability to walk around your car and head-tracking, hopes are high this will be another quality outing for the series this Christmas.
