3DS Gets Tactical Launch Title Courtesy of X-Com Creator

Julian Gollop beavering away

You may not know the name, but Julian Gollop is one of the creators of the highly-regarded X-Com tactical series, a turns-based strategy game fondly remembered by many. Although the series itself isn't headed to Nintendo platforms any time soon, Gollop has announced he's bringing a turns-based tactical RPG to the 3DS in time for the console's launch.

Nintendo Download: 16th August 2010 (North America)

Monsters and Space on WiiWare; Mahjong, Reflections, Singing and Notes on DSiWare; nothing on VC

Another week, another round of "Where's My Most Anticipated Game?" with the Nintendo Download. There's no Shantae and no Virtual Console release, but don't be glum: there's still Quark Dispellers, Astro Maggots, Divergent Shifts and all manner of other bizarre word couplings to be downloaded from today.

Monsteca Corral: Monsters vs. Robots (500pts, Onteca) – Planet Monsteca is populated by Stompies, orange monsters who previously lived blissful lives, free from pain and oppression. Then along came robots, and the whole balance was upset to such an extent that only by guiding an army of monsters on a rampage can harmony be restored. Sakamoto says Metroid: Other M is a “Perfect Metroid Experience”

The wait is nearly over

It's been a long wait for Metroid: Other M, but within a few weeks we'll finally know whether or not it's an excellent outing for the bounty hunter. Metroid creator Yoshio Sakamoto certainly seems to think so, even going so far as to say it's the perfect Metroid experience in an interview with Official Nintendo Magazine.
